+ Stress Engineer

We are currently seeking Stress Engineers to support a variety of aerospace development programs. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will provide technical expertise and analytical solutions to support the design, development, and certification of new aircraft and aircraft modifications. Working independently and as part of small, fast-moving teams on advanced development projects, you’ll find your collaboration and communication skills are an essential part of the job. You will conduct structural analysis, support development of conceptual design phases through to released engineering data and stress analysis reports, support testing and prepare documentation with a range of aerospace engineering disciplines.

Stress Analysis Engineers:  Work with Aerodynamics, Loads, and Design Engineers to develop load paths and airframe structural configuration layouts. Perform stress analysis to support development work, initial sizing or final sizing input for the following aircraft structures: wing and associated control surfaces and fixed leading and trailing edge structures, fuselage, empennage, control systems, and secondary airframe components. Generate certification level structural analysis reports.

Analysis capabilities that may be utilized, but not limited to, are the following:

Stress Engineer applicants should have experience with the application of the appropriate analysis method depending on the phase or complexity of the structure and be able to work with methods and structural allowables available in the public domain. The applicant should have exposure and working knowledge of at least one Finite Element Analysis package. The ability to interrogate CAD models and use a PDM system is viewed as a benefit. Well qualified applicants will have familiarity with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements and processes, possess good verbal and written communication skills and must function well in a multi-disciplinary team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of aerospace engineering principles and concepts related to metallic and composite aircraft structures and systems.

+ Structural “CAD” Design Engineer

We are currently seeking Structural Design Engineers with CATIA V5 & 3DEXPERIENCE Design experience to support several aerospace development programs. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will provide technical expertise and analytical solutions to support the design, development, and certification of new aircraft and aircraft modifications, working independently and as part of small, fast-moving teams on advanced development projects. You will find your excellent collaboration and communication skills are an essential part of the job. You will perform structural design support development of conceptual design phases through to released engineering drawings.

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will:

  • Work in an IPT to develop airframe structural configuration layouts
  • Model initial concepts of new or modified aerostructures using numerous CAD programs
  • Generate and mature design concepts to the customer’s specified level of definition, which may be limited to lofted surface definition and Interface Control Models (ICM), or extend to the development of individual component models, assemblies, and installation models and release of production drawings or MBDs
  • Work with the Stress analysis group to incorporate structural sizing requirements
  • Manage the product definition within the 3DEXPERIENCE PLM environment
  • Support the generation and review of reports and presentation materials for internal and customer Preliminary and Critical Design Review (PDR & CDR) meetings

Specific tasks include:

  • Primary and secondary aerospace structures (metallic and composite)
  • Control surfaces and actuation systems
  • Integrated pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical system installations
  • Cryogenic Fluid Tube Design & Routing
  • Aerospace mechanical systems
  • Propulsion system installations

Design applicants should have experience with CAD design specific to working with CATIA V5 & 3DEXPERIENCE. Structural Design Engineers should also be familiar with aerospace structures, aerospace systems or engineering drawing development and release. Applicants should be cognizant of design for weight, producibility, durability, and customer-specific needs. You should also possess good verbal and written communication skills and must function well in a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge in the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009 drafting standard is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Understanding of aerospace engineering principles, aerospace primary structures or concepts related to metallic and composite aircraft systems and structures
  • CATIA V5 & 3DEXPERIENCE Designers should be able to model both in 2D and 3D

EXPECTATIONS:
Specific tasks may include any or all of the following:

  • Perform quasi-static maneuver loads analysis for aircraft and launch vehicles
  • Perform dynamic gust and turbulence analysis for aircraft and launch vehicles
  • Perform static and dynamic ground analyses for aircraft and launch vehicles
  • Perform aircraft flutter analysis including propeller whirl flutter

+Design Engineering Manager

TLG Aerospace is currently seeking an additional Design Engineering Manager to support a variety of aerospace development programs. As part of a passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will work with customers and internal project teams (Aerodynamics, Loads, Flutter, Performance & Handling Qualities, CFD and Stress Engineers) to lead the Design Engineering efforts at TLG. You will manage and direct structural design and support development of conceptual design phases from initial concept through to released engineering drawings.

Design Engineering Manager responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with customers to develop and define statements of work which utilize TLG’s experience and capabilities.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Lead a staff of highly qualified Design Engineers in the following responsibilities:
    • Manage layout phase of initial concepts for new or modified aerospace structures,
    • Manage the generation of initial and mature design concepts to the customer’s specified level of definition, which may be limited to lofted surface definition and Interface Control Models (ICM), or extend to the development of individual component models, assemblies and installation models and release of production drawings or MBDs.
    • Manage the product definition within a PDM environment. Support the generation and review of reports and presentation materials for internal and customer Preliminary and Critical Design Review (PDR & CDR) meetings.

Applicants should have experience with the application of design standards and techniques appropriate to the complexity and program maturity of the structure, and the ability to interrogate CAD models and use a PDM system. The applicant should have work experience using CATIA.  Exposure and knowledge of numerical structural modeling techniques with FEMAP, Patran/Nastran seen as a strong benefit. As a Structures and Systems Design Engineer, you will:

  • Work in an IPT to develop airframe structural configuration layouts
  • Model initial concepts of new or modified aerostructures using CREO Parametric
  • Generate and mature design concepts to the customer’s specified level of definition, which may be limited to lofted surface definition and Interface Control Models (ICM), or extend to the development of individual component models, assemblies, and installation models and release of production drawings or MBDs
  • Work with the Stress analysis group to incorporate structural sizing requirements
  • Manage the product definition within the Windchill PDM environment
  • Support the generation and review of reports and presentation materials for internal and customer Preliminary and Critical Design Review (PDR & CDR) meetings

EXPECTATIONS:
